Thyme, Latin name (Thymus vulgaris L), plant 
species belonging to the Lyme family. It comes from 
the Mediterranean regions, now it can be found wild
in Morocco, Greece, Turkey, Italy and Spain [3]. 

It is also grown in many other regions of the world.

The thyme herb contains essential oil in the amount 
of 3.5 - 5.4%. The oil contains 20-50% phenolic 
derivatives, as well as up to 10% tannins, polyphenolic 
acids, triterpenic compounds, flavonoids, 
bitterness, saponins and mineral salts.

Thyme supports the work of the respiratory system, its 
antibacterial effect soothes infections of the throat 
and mouth. It also has an expectorant and diastolic effect. 

It also supports the digestive system - gastritis, soothing
irritated intestines and liver ailments, preventing diarrhea.
Thyme also has anti-inflammatory properties: it soothes
rheumatic pains, disinfects the dental canals and 
soothes inflammation of the vagina.
