Yarrow from Latin (Achillea millefolium L.), it is a plant species from the Asteraceae family.
In folk names it appears as thousand-leaf, yarrow chrysanthemum, yarrow yarrow. Very common
in Eurasia and South America. In Poland, it occurs in large numbers throughout the country.

Medicinal raw material (Millefolii herba) consists of whole or fragmented, dried, flowering tops of shoots,
which contain not less than 2 ml / kg of essential oil and a minimum of 0.02% proazulen as chamazulene.

The essential oil (Millefolii oleum) contains azulene compounds.
The plant also contains choline, flavonoids, tannins, acids: formic, acetic, isovaleric, bitter achilleine glycoside
and mineral salts (mainly zinc and magnesium salts).

Yarrow is anti-inflammatory, anti-haemorrhagic, bacteriostatic and slightly antispasmodic.
It also stimulates the secretion of digestive juices and bile.
In the past, an infusion was made for internal bleeding.
Currently, it is used internally in gastrointestinal disorders manifested by lack of appetite, flatulence,
intestinal cramps, and indigestion. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, also in peptic ulcer disease.
Externally, yarrow is used to relieve inflammation of the skin, mucous membranes and on wounds to accelerate their healing.
