Thyme, Latin name (Thymus vulgaris L), a plant species belonging to the mint family. It comes from the Mediterranean, now it can be found growing wild in Morocco, Greece, Turkey, Italy and Spain. It is also cultivated in many other regions of the world.

Thyme herb contains essential oil in the amount of 3.5 - 5.4%. The oil contains 20-50% phenolic derivatives, as well as up to 10% tannins, polyphenolic acids, triterpene compounds, flavonoids, bitterness, saponins and mineral salts.

Thyme supports the work of the respiratory system, its antibacterial effect soothes throat and mouth infections. It also has an expectorant and antispasmodic effect. It also supports the work of the digestive system - gastritis, soothes irritated intestines and liver ailments, prevents diarrhea.
Thyme also has an anti-inflammatory effect: it relieves rheumatic pain, disinfects tooth canals and soothes inflammation of the vagina.
