Sweet Flag (Acorus calamus) - a plant that grows along the shores of lakes and ponds, characterized by long, vertical leaves and yellowish-cream, spadix-shaped flowers. It originates from the regions of India and China. The Polish name "Tatarak" is derived from the Tatars, who likely brought this plant to Europe. The herbal raw material is the rhizome of sweet flag, which contains essential oil (including sesquiterpenes), bitter substances, tannins, amines, organic acids, and mineral components. Its use in traditional medicine dates back to ancient times. It is a valuable remedy with beneficial effects on the digestive system and a calming action. Tatarak is also used in the kitchen as a mildly spicy spice with a sweet, spicy note.

Recommended use:

Infusion:

Pour 1-2 teaspoons of rhizomes with a cup of boiling water. Steep covered for 15-30 minutes.
Consume 2-3 cups per day, half a cup at a time.

Powder:

Pour half a level teaspoon of powder with hot water, cover, and let it cool down. Drink the infusion together with the powder 2-3 times a day or once in the evening.
